Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We have answers. If you do not find what you are looking for, give us a call at (608) 531-4011.

What types of firewood do you offer?

We offer three types: Mixed Hardwoods (a blend of ash, oak, hickory, and other local hardwoods), Seasoned Firewood (cut and dried from the prior season for clean burning), and Boiler Wood (specialized cuts for outdoor wood boilers and furnaces).

What sizes are available?

All our firewood types are available in four sizes: 1/2 Face Cord (4'x4'x16"), Full Face Cord (4'x8'x16"), 1/2 Cord (4'x4'x4'), and Full Cord (4'x8'x4'). A face cord is great for occasional use, while a full cord will keep you burning all season.

How does delivery work?

We deliver throughout the Janesville area and surrounding communities. The first 5 miles from our location are free. Beyond that, delivery is just $2.50 per loaded mile. Enter your address when ordering to see your exact delivery fee. We also offer free pickup at our yard.

How far do you deliver?

We deliver up to approximately 55 miles from our location in Janesville, WI. This covers most of Rock County and surrounding areas including Beloit, Milton, Edgerton, Evansville, Stoughton, and more.

Can I pick up my order?

Yes! Free pickup is available at our yard located at 4332 E County Road, Janesville, WI 53546. Select 'Pickup' during checkout and we'll have your order ready for you.

What does 'seasoned' firewood mean?

Seasoned firewood has been cut and allowed to air-dry for at least one full season (typically 6-12 months). This reduces the moisture content to below 25%, which means it lights easier, burns hotter, produces less smoke, and creates less creosote buildup.

Why don't you use chain equipment?

We process all our firewood without chain saws or other chain equipment. This eliminates the risk of oil contamination on your firewood. The result is cleaner burning wood that's better for indoor fireplaces, cooking, and the environment.

Where does your wood come from?

All our firewood is locally sourced from within 55 miles of Janesville, Wisconsin. We work with local landowners and property managers to sustainably harvest standing dead timber, storm damage, and trees that need removal.

When is the best time to order?

We recommend ordering your seasoned firewood in late summer or early fall before demand peaks. However, we keep inventory throughout the burning season.

Do you offer bulk or commercial pricing?

Yes, we offer special pricing for large commercial orders and repeat customers. Contact us directly at (608) 531-4011 or sales@rockcountyfirewood.com to discuss your needs.
