Firewood Sizing Guide
Not sure how much firewood you need? Here is a breakdown of our sizing options.
1/2 Face Cord
4' x 4' x 16"
Perfect for a few weekends of campfires or occasional fireplace use.
~21 cubic feet
Full Face Cord
4' x 8' x 16"
Also called a "rick." Good for regular use over several weeks.
~42 cubic feet
1/2 Cord
4' x 4' x 4'
A solid amount for steady fireplace or stove use through part of the season.
64 cubic feet
Full Cord
4' x 8' x 4'
The standard measurement. Enough for heavy use throughout the heating season.
128 cubic feet
Face Cord vs. Full Cord
A full cord is the official measurement: a stack 4 feet high, 8 feet long, and 4 feet deep (128 cubic feet). A face cord (also called a rick) is the same height and length but only one row deep, typically 16 inches for standard firewood. So a full cord contains roughly three face cords. Boiler wood face cords are cut to 24 inches deep for larger fireboxes.
